Economic sector

In the economic sector, CECODEL aims to:

  1. Give priority to projects relating to agro-ecology, because the geomorphological nature of the Rif, where there are many small fertile valleys, as well as the form of agrarian ownership based on micro-property and intensive farming, have the potential to become an important factor in socio-economic transformation. This is dependent upon the centre’s ability to convince farmers to cultivate their land in an organised and rational way, in cooperatives that make it easier to secure finances and the relevant technology, and allow them, as a result, to sell their products easily in a context where ecological products are increasingly in demand.

  2. Promote and encourage projects that focus on renewable energy, such as bio-, solar and wind energy, etc.

  3. Promote and advance untraditional ways of investing in tourism, and especially methods related to social and ecological tourism, both in coastal and mountain areas, whilst laying emphasis on new or marginalised pathways.

  4. Allow the creation of informal sectors such as fishing, modern and traditional crafts, and travelling sales and micro-commerce, and to work towards creating alternatives to illegal emigration, smuggling, and kif production and related activities.

  5. Open up isolated areas and hamlets on the Mediterranean coast by building roads and communal social facilities (schools, hospitals, social centres...), providing rural areas with electricity, encouraging the creation of production cooperatives and involving women in these cooperatives.
